The Tale of Two Wolves

Picture from Hometown

The Tale of Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two
"wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute ! and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Variety Show

Last night we went to the Good Life Variety Show.  To live or stay in Good Life RV Resort one must be at least 55 years old.  This is a gated community in the heart of Mesa, Arizona.   This show was not the typical Geritol Follies that you might expect.   Instead it was high-spirited, inventive, and extremely entertaining.

This was an  opportunity to show off their talents, and they did succeed in doing that.   We had line dancers, tangoers, singers, players of instruments, comedians, story tellers, and a few novelty skits.  These talented seniors were up to 89 years young.  There were so many participants that the show was divided into two nights.  The grand hall was filled up both nights to see how  our friends and neighbors were going to entertain us.     Another great  Variety Show.

Happy Valentine's Day

Picture from Hometown Happy Valentine's Day

Did you know that  that 192 million cards  will be exchanged today.  It is  the second most  popular card giving day.

I remember  when I was just a child in school we would all decorate a  a box to be used as a mail box.  When this day finally arrived we would proudly display it on our desk for all our friends .  The teacher gave us a limited time to go around and put valentines in  our friends box.  This was a anxious time, what if you didn't get  any?   I don't think that this ever happened, thank heaven.

Any way, here is my valentine to you.   http://www.banjobunny.com/pages/view.php?CardID=890

I also have a little game for you to play.   Let me know how good you are!

Hotel del Coronado

On our recent visit to San Diego, we spent a day on the quint island of Coronado.  On the water's edge of the Pacific  Ocean is the Hotel del Coronado, a beautiful classic hotel, built in 1888 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977.  I read somewhere that the USA Today calls it "one of the top resorts in the world," how about that?  So if you are looking for a romantic setting, a family vacation or a business meeting and you have lots of money, this would be the place to go.  We enjoyed our cheeseburgers lunch here for a mere $55.  We were not dressed to have dinner here, and it just as well. LOL

I can't say enough about this hotel.  So I'll tell you more.   Two men purchased the entire island for $110,000, which was just sage brush and dunes.  But I guess they were men with a vision and here are. Over the years many stars and dignitaries have vacationed here, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Charles Lindbergh,  President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan to name a few.   I hate being a name dropper!

The island boasts a beautiful public golf course and the most lovely white sandy beaches.  It was pleasant  just to walk along the beach walkways and enjoy the  activities in the water.  There was surfing, which we had not seen before,  shell hunters, rock climbing and surf fishing.  A most enjoyable day.

San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is probably the most popular zoo in the world  and trust me, it's so big, 100 acres.  It is also the home to those cute giant pandas.  The zoo grounds are up and down, with a wonderful variety of tropical and sub-tropical plants. Even though we took a guided tour when we first got there, the zoo requires a lot of walking, with much of it up and down.    We loved the gorillas, pandas, orangutans, bear plunge and the koalas even though they slept while we visited.  I guess we didn't impress them to much.

Bottom line, it's a great take, but don't forget your walking shoes.
